“Shelter me, oh, shelter me!” cries the frightened child as he runs. “Me?” asks the willow, old Salicaceae, “There’s scarcely room beneath my boughs for one.”

As tears slip down from eyes unblessed by father’s love, save for the lash, or mother’s joy, since she soon passed, “Quick, shed some bark!”, calls brother Ash, “the stripling’s tears will salt the grass.”
